TOUR DE FRANCE WINE TASTING PARTY

Item Number: 119
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
If you've ever wanted to know more about wine, or specifically French wine, this is the party for you!
You and up to 9 friends will learn the basics of French wine, including tasting basics, a little history, the major French regions and styles, how to read labels, how to order in restaurants, and how different wines are made.
Wines, glasses, bread and cheese are all provided for a fun and informative party hosted either at your home or a local venue I will secure if you prefer to have the party elsewhere.
Many people are intimidated by wine. The goal of this night is to make wine less intimidating and more fun. I will focus entirely on French wines, believing that it is an interesting and fun way to learn about the wider wine world. I will bring examples of many of the major regions of France and use them to talk about various aspects of wine while exploring the styles that everyone most enjoys.
THE WINES
For our wine night, I will provide at least 6 different French wines for your party to taste and learn about. This will include:
* a Champagne
* a Loire white
* a Burgundy white
* a Burgundy red
* a Rhone red
* a Bordeaux red
This allows us to try a wide range of classic French styles that are useful both in learning about old world wines and in describing wine to professionals in the US. The party will learn about the French appellation system, labeling terms and grape varietals and more through these examples.
The more you donate, the nicer the wine examples I will provide ;)
THE TUTOR
Scott Chacon is currently a WSET Diploma student and earned his WSET Level 3 certification in Wines and Spirits through West London Wine School. He is known to occasionally raise money for charities by hosting nights like this through http://charitywinenight.com. He is the father of Josie Chacon in our 2nd grade class and began studying the wine world while living in Paris.
