Description

In Grade 5 this year, the students have been working on the idea of using different mediums to give a voice to political and social issues. They visited Balmy Alley in San Francisco and learned about the different ways that the artists expressed themselves through their murals.

For this project the students learned about the artist Shepard Fairey who created the Iconic HOPE poster in 2008 for the Obama campaign and the WE THE PEOPLE series more recently.  Inspired by his style, the students created their own posters carrying positive messages for the future. They began by learning about portrait photography, and took amazing photographs of one another. Using digital manipulation we transformed the images into the style of Shepard Fairey and the students worked with their teachers to create their own individual messages to add to their posters.

You are ordering a 16x20 unframed poster that will come with a digital copy to make your own cards, prints, etc.
