Project Scientist is a summer program on university campuses where GIRLS are immersed in STEM through learning from a tailored curriculum facilitated by highly skilled and credentialed educators by participating in exciting hands-on experiments, field trips, and daily interactions with female role models from a variety of STEM fields. 2017 Academy camps include Deep Sea Divers, Mythbusters, Sports Medicine, Coding and Makerspace, Designing Your World, and Space Explorers!
Our promise is to educate, coach, and advocate for girls and women with an aptitude, talent, and passion for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
Summer STEM Academy 2017 Themes & Dates
- June 12-16: Space Explorers - Explore Earth's systems (sun, moon and solar system) and beyond including several means of transportation to and on other planets and moons.
- June 19-23: Deep Sea Divers - Dive into oceanography, nautical engineering, and aquatic ecosystem health of animals, habitats, and ocean geology.
- June 26-30: Sports Medicine - Learn about how the body works during sports and how to prevent, recognize and treat a range of sports related injuries.
- July 3-7*: Mythbusters - Manipulate the physics and chemistry behind everyday occurrences and phenomena the Mythbusters way.
- July 10-14: Designing Your World - From civil engineering to urban planning, girls will execute STEAM challenges to design and create future structures, bridges, roads and more with a sustainable focus.
- July 17-21: Coding and Makerspace - Practice coding through a variety of platforms including wearable tech and circuit bracelets, Makey Makey game creation, and robotics!
