Description

This is a stunning item! An antique, 17 piece, hand-painted, Japanese tea set. The double T, double diamond mark is the standard mark of the Takito Company (1880-1948). They were well known for their moriage wares (also known as Dragonware) in the Satsuma style. Moriage is a special type of raised decoration used on some Japanese pottery. If you look closely in the pictures you can see the three dimensional moriage and it seems like it is depicting the "Seven Lucky Gods" including the one goddess: Benzaiten, who is the goddess of knowledge, art, beauty, and especially music. These pieces likely date from the 1920s-40s when this decoration style was fashionable. Included are 6 tea cups, 6 saucers, tea pot with lid, sugar bowl with lid and a creamer. They are a truly beautiful set!
