Whether they choose to strengthen our local Jewish community, fight for animal rights, or help cure a disease, one thing's for sure: they'll be someone's hero. Every child in Minneapolis who becomes a bar or bat mitzvah has a Genesis Mitzvah Fund. The question is: will they choose to activate it?

How it works
The Jewish Community Foundation of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation will work with the winner of this auction item to create a Genesis Mitzvah Fund with a seed grant of $250 for a child above bar or bat mitzvah age. Contributions may be made anytime thereafter to honor birthdays, confirmation, graduation, or other special accomplishments. Once the fund reaches $1,000, it will start earning interest. The fund holder can then make annual donations from the investment income – donations to anything they want! The assets in Genesis Mitzvah Funds are professionally invested and managed with other funds at the Jewish Community Foundation. Statements are sent out on a quarterly basis.
