Description

This Christening gown was created using the finest Swiss batiste fabric and antique French cotton laces.  The bows on the skirt and bodice were hand sewn using the shadow embroidery technique.  The neck and armholes of the slip were hand sewn using a stitch called a scallop stitch.  There are two hand sewn bonnets; one for a boy, one for a girl.

The gown, slip and bonnets required 90 hours of labor.  The fabric and laces alone have a value of approximately $350.

A note regarding the lace: antique laces often have occasional dark spots on them. This is not considered a flaw, this is the nature of antique laces.

The seamstress hopes that this gown provides many years of happy memories for generations to come.
