Beyond your furthest horizons in the interiors of the Thar desert, well off the popularly frequented routes, lies the Dera Dune Retreat situated on top of a nearly 100-foot high sand dune. The Bishnoi Tribe settled in the desert in Jamba is known to be keen conservationists both of the environment and of their traditional culture. Inspired by their founding saint, Jambeshwar, the Bishnois have been pursuing their passion for conservation with dedication and diligence. Dera Dune retreat takes pride in their culture, tradition and intense belief in conservation and supports the Bishnois in this journey. They organize safaris and day excursions in air conditioned four wheel drive vehicles to take you deep into the desert life.

Dera Dune Retreat has 18 cottages of which 8 deluxe stone cottages are pool facing. Their floors and pillars are made of the Jaisalmer yellow sandstone and the colorful decor is done simply but elegantly in traditional Rajasthani style with locally woven rugs and tapestries.

The other 10 wooden cottages come with thatched roofs and large glass windows offering a picturesque view of the desert. De-stress in the comfort of the retreat or take a dip in the pool, there is a lot to keep you occupied at the retreat. Nights at the desert are quiet and tranquil.
