Ride behind the coal-fired, steam powered locomotive through the backcountry wilderness of the San Juan Mountains of Southern Colorado.

The First-Class cars take you back to early 20th Century luxury. The route to Silverton from Durango travels along the spectacular Animas River and boasts some of Colorado's most striking canyon scenery.

The train will cross the river five times on its journey to Silverton, offering spectacular views. You’ll pass farmlands, old stagecoach roads, the breathtaking "Highline", old mining camps, and see peaks reaching over 14,000 feet. Watch for elk, black bear, Bighorn Sheep, mountain lions and moose.
