Since opening in June 1990, Childrens Discovery Museum of San Jose has welcomed over 7 million visitors. Our striking 52,000 sq.ft. purple building, designed by Mexico City-based architect Ricardo Legorreta, signals the Museums purpose: to serve the needs of children, families, and schools as a center for learning and discovery. Each year our talented team of educators and designers respond to childrens diverse educational needs by bringing new interactive exhibits to life. With the addition of the West Wing in 1997, the Museum expanded its size by 20 percent, and with the addition of The Builder Building in 2015 another 3,200 sq. ft was added.
