Description

Hungry for dinner?  Maybe you’d like to start with Nicholas Zawadsky’s Siberian Fish Soup, and then move on to Brayden Mathews’ grandmother’s recipe for “Korean Beef Barbecue” (“Bul Gogi” in Korean, or “Fire Meat”).  Still room for dessert?  Matthew Asiano has a wonderful recipe for Tira Mi Su.  Not healthy enough?  How about Dara Soheili’s home-concocted “Sports Drink”?

All these recipes, and more can be found in a limited edtion handcrafted, professionally laid-out, and beautifully bound cookbook compiled by CSB’s Eighth Grade when they were in Kindergarten! The cookbook measure 12.5”x10” and is bound in black artist cloth with gold-leaf foil lettering.  Each boy has his own page, with his own favorite family recipe, and a few of his own handwritten thoughts about food.  Dozens of photographs had been taken of the boys including pictures of them working in CSB’s rooftop garden, cooking in the classroom, and picking out fresh produce (one fruit, one vegetable!) on their Farmer’s Market field trip to the Ferry Building.  These pictures accompany the recipes, and adorn other pages of the book as well.

These books are truly a treasure that will last a lifetime.  Stunning!
