It began while on maternity leave in 2007 with a simple cast-iron pan for frying and a desire for donuts with complex and nuanced flavor. Inspired by summertime creamsicles, Sara spent her days as a new mom experimenting and testing the beginnings of Dynamo's spectacular Vanilla Bean Donut, now one of her most popular varieties. This first donut boasts a robust flavor profile of salty, sweet, sour, bitter, all pulled together with a little spice. 

By July 2008, Sara was armed with enough recipes to open her first shop. Her first San Francisco storefront in the Mission combines throwback midcentury colors and wood stains, minimalist design, an open kitchen, back patio and garden, and sidewalk coffee counter that proudly serves local coffee. 

Using seasonal, local and organic ingredients wherever possible, Sara and her talented baking team hand make the tastiest, lightest, and fluffiest cake and classic donuts around, directly at the Mission storefront and supplying the Marina Kiosk six days a week.
