The gyroplane technology was developed in the early 1920's and is known for its reliability and safety. It enjoyed a rich history and attracted the attention of early designers. In recent years it found success among the private pilots community, particularly in Europe and Australia, where autogyros are very popular. Gyroplanes allow comfortable flying at low altitudes and are  particularly suited for sightseeing missions and operations out of small airfields with short runways. In the US they have attracted a good following among aviation enthusiasts represented by the PRA.
