Description

Enjoy an afternoon of foraging, dyeing and making slow textiles with purpose.

Learn about the brilliant reds and pinks derived from the shell of the cochineal bug that lives on the prickly pear cactus. We will forage local cochineal and work with dried cochineal from Oaxaca. These reds have a rich history of being used for cardinal’s robes, textiles at Versailles and the redcoats of the British Army.
