This impressively sized wonderful and realistic portrayal of a nesting osprey family is an original painting on canvas signed by Richard W. Rourke, a distinguished Cape Cod artist.  It is mounted in a burnished gilt wood frame, and with its significant size, will make a very attractive focal point in a room.  The painting is sized approximately 42" by 42", and is an excellent value for such a well painted piece.

This is signed by the artist on the painting itself, as pictured.  His name also appears on the back of the canvas wood stretcher underneath the paper backing.

Richard W. Rourke (1929-1993) is a 20th century artist who lived in Cotuit, MA and maintained a studio there.  He was known for painting New England landscapes, Cape Cod seascapes, and marine and still life objects.  He preferred impressionist and realistic styles and received many awards for his work.  He was a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art, and received a masters degree from Boston College.  He taught in Needham Public Schools for many years.  He died in 1993.
