The Griffey's are one of the most successful and popular father-son duos in major league baseball history - and briefly shared the outfield as teammates for the Seattle Mariners.
Griffey Sr. played for the Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves and Seattle Mariners in a career that stretched from 1973 to 1991. A 3-time All Star and 2-time World Series champion, Griffey Sr. had a career batting average of .296 with 152 home runs and 859 RBIs. He played in 1,997 career games.
Griffey Jr. played for the Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, and (briefly) the Chicago White Sox in a career that stretched from 1989 to 2010. "Junior" or "The Kid" a 13-time All Star and the 1997 American League MVP. His 630 career home runs are currently 6th most all-time in MLB history. He collected 2,781 hits on route to a career .284 batting average. He also won 10 consecutive Gold Gloves. In 2016, Griffey Jr. was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame with the highest percentage of votes in its history, 99.32% of votes cast.
The Griffeys played together in 51 games for the Seattle Mariners in 1990 and 1991.
