Description
One lucky winning bidder takes homes this autographed painting depicting Boston Braves pitching legends Warren Spahn and Johnny Sain and autographed by the two men. A certificate of authenticity is included from All Star Collectors Club.
The pieces measures 11" x 14" in a hard cardboard frame, ready for permanent framing in your home or office.
Warren Spahn is the winningest lefthander in MLB history with 363 wins in a career that stretched from 1942 to 1965. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973.
Johnny Sain won 139 for the Braves, Yankees and A's before embarking on a decades long coaching career as one of the most respected pitching coaches in the game.
Spahn & Sain's leadership in bringing the Braves to the brink of the 1948 World Series title; their combined 8-0 record over a 12 day period caused a Boston Post sportswriter to coin this ditty, later shortened to the famous "Spahn and Sain and pray for rain:"
First we'll use Spahn
then we'll use Sain
Then an off day
followed by rain
Back will come Spahn
followed by Sain
And followed
we hope
by two days of rain.
This piece is a signed photo of the original 1989 poster of the two men created by artist Ron Lewis.
