Description

This watercolor painting of coastal life by Nova Scotian artist David Lacey was donated to Lion's Roar Foundation by Patricia Livingstone and Brian Guns, the painting's current owners, and is offered now for the enoyment of its next owner, a fortunate Lion's Roar Auction bidder.

This and the other Lacey painting in this year's auction were created for a show of works by Nova Scotian artists to illustrate a collection of local stories. The stories have long since disappeared but the art remains.

David Lacey was born in the small Nova Scotia village of Woodville, Kings County situated in the heart of the Annapolis Valley, a major farming area. His favourite subjects include the sturdy homes that dot the countryside and the long lanes and winding roads that weave through the Annapolis Valley and along the Bay of Fundy. The Cape-style fishing craft that abound in Nova Scotia and the ebb and the flow of the tides along the coast are also found in his work.
