Established in 1929, the Playhouse is the longest continually operating community theatre west of the Mississippi River. 

Nearly a thousand productions have passed through the doors of the Playhouse, being produced on the 200-seat Mainstage and the 99-seat Studio theatre. A new production opens every three weeks, making Long Beach Playhouse readily accessible for wide-ranging audience experiences. 

Mainstage productions attract high-quality non-professional actors, producers, directors, designers, and dedicated community volunteers. The Studio theatre produces work of contemporary playwrights and aids the Playhouse's dedication to bringing quality theatre to the Long Beach area. 

First of all, I love the venue. There are no bad seats as they are arranged around the stage similar to The Guthrie. It is a rather intimate theater and the actors play to the entire audience. Speech is crisp and clear yet not unpleasantly loud. Go! It is a local treasure. - Liz N., Facebook
