Huge Bear is passionate about making exceptional, hand-crafted wines, in small lots.

The adventurous spirit of the west is captured in each bottle of Huge Bear. The Huge Bear name comes from an article discovered in local historic archives from the mid-1800s. A huge bear would come down from the mountains in search of food; that elusive bear was never trapped. During this time, Thomas Knight (namesake of Knights Valley) was leading the charge to raise the Bear Flag and pronounce California as an independent state. It’s easy to imagine that the Bear Flaggers were inspired by this local bear, choosing to celebrate the bear’s independent spirit on the California State Bear Flag.

You’ll receive six 750ml bottles of 2011 Huge Bear Knights Bridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, Knights Valley. This 100%, old-vine, Cabernet Sauvignon has distinctive notes of fresh-picked blackberry, English Lavender, cocoa, and earthy brown spice on the nose. On the palate, enjoy black cherry, blackberry compote, plowed earth, and dark chocolate. This wine is deep, intricate and round, with tannins that carry the dark, sweet-fruit and spice through the long finish.

The dark, smoky character of the wine pairs well with dishes featuring both fruity and savory elements. Try roasted pork tenderloin with cherry compote.
