Three-time Tony and Oscar winner Mark Rylance returns to Broadway in Shakespeare’s Globe production of Farinelli and the King. Directed by John Dove, the play tells the story of King Philippe V of Spain (Rylance), who welcomes celebrated castrato Farinelli into his chamber in the hopes of curing his insomnia. As the king grows more captivated by the singer's voice, Farinelli must choose between his public life in opera houses and a life of solitude with the King. Farinelli and the King is scheduled to open December 17 at the Belasco Theatre.
