"My artwork is deeply rooted in the struggle to give voice to and be in solidarity with the many women struggling to be heard, to cull universal narratives, and align with existing ones, whether it be, for example, Ovid’s Philomela (from Metamorphoses) or an Anne Sexton poem based on a fable. The power of the female voice is still obviously a threat to the status quo of many cultures given the violence directed at it; suffering is pervasive and these meta-narratives against personal freedom are what drive humanity, in circles. I have employed many artistic disciplines in reverence to these themes." - Julie Adler
