When we first look at the painting the initial image is a face. The face behind the mask is a reflection of one’s own image. The painting asks the viewer to be vulnerable and take off their 'mask'. The artwork is not easy to connect to, but once a connection is made the viewer comes to see many objects hidden within the painting – all “a matter of perspective” as each viewer sees wildly different images.
