This 100% silk scarf is made by Ardean, the Center for Art, Architecture and Design based in Armenia .

Armenia is often referred as the “stone country” for its mountainous terrain. The topography of the country dually influenced its distinctive architecture and the stone carving tradition. Robust and monumental, as the mountains surrounding them, stand the monuments of architecture and the innumerable cross-stones. Armenian stony soil, the jags of surrounding ridges and the outlines of architectural monuments often merge into a uniform image. There are well over 50,000 cross-stones in Armenia, and like snowflakes, no two are alike. Our inspiration for this composition was derived from the elaborate patterns of leaves, grapes, and ornaments found in stone carvings that ornate Armenian architectural monuments and cross stones.
