Founded in 2003, Down Dog Yoga opened its flagship studio in a former garage on the edge of the Potomac Canal in Georgetown. Few yoga studios existed in the city at the time, and there was no telling how things would go. But as Helen Keller once said: “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” So they set off on their path, and opened their doors on a wing and a prayer!

Soon, students from all over the Washington area began to join them, becoming friends and fellow yogis. Gradually, what was once a simple, nondescript, red brick building off the C&O Canal transformed into the heart of a vibrant yoga community. Today, Down Dog Yoga has grown to include four locations throughout the D.C. region, and is one of the best-known and most well-respected studios in the country.
