Leslie Gaworecki earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in photography from The Ohio State University in 1999.  After more than ten years as a photographer, she followed her curiosity to paint and then began showing work in her Houston studio in 2016.

Artist's Statement:

"I went to school for art, but I am a self taught painter.  My paintings are layers and layers of - mistakes really.  Things I try that aren't quite right, so I try again. I paint with my hands a lot.  I paint with music on and the lyrics sometimes make their way onto the canvas along with the energy and movement of scratches, marks, vibrant colors and repeated patterns. As a mom of four, my mark making is often inspired by the creative freedom of my boys."
