Chinese New Year Parade 2019: Honorary Family Parade Marshal
Your family will be honored guests of West Portal Elementary Chinese Performing Arts Program, in one of the top ten parades in the world, the 2019 Southwest Chinese New Year Parade (Date TBD).
Your day will start in the afternoon at the school, where your entire family will be dressed in costume. Around 3pm, all the groups will make their way to MUNI and catch the trains to the staging area downtown. Come parade time around 5:30pm, your family will march with the school as we perform for thousands through the streets of downtown San Francisco. Near Union Square, you will be greeted by the bright lights in the TV Zone, where rambunctious fans will be cheering for all parade participants. The evening will end around 8pm, where you will return back to school to celebrate the Lunar New Year over dinner.
The CPAP director will work with your family to coordinate the best position for your family to march in.
Special Instructions
This offer is limited to
- families who have at least one child that attends WPE
- the siblings of the child in attendance
- two adults guardians (ex, parents, grandparents, uncle, aunt)
Program Requirements
- all participants will be required to attend at least two practice sessions in January or February of 2019.
- we can not accommodate baby strollers
- if your child is already a participant in the program, we will do our best to have your family march together
