Transcendentalist Walking Tour of Concord with Rev. Jenny

Item Number: 263
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
Join Rev. Jenny as you trace the footsteps of Transcendentalists like Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau and Margaret Fuller in Concord, Mass. We’ll start at the North Bridge, site of the “shot heard round the world” and visit some of Concord’s iconic sites, ending our walking tour in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery where we’ll visit the graves of these luminaries. The Transcendentalists are our spiritual ancestors, a group of women and men who lived in the 1830s and 40s, and helped bring into being a new American literary, spiritual and philosophical culture, the “second” American revolution, as it is often called. This is a highly interactive walking tour; Jenny will give out quotations from letters and journals for participants to read out loud.
DATES: Saturday, 1-3:30 pm on April 15 OR April 22 OR April 29 OR May 6. (We’ll contact people at the beginning of March and schedule the date when most people can attend).
Limited to 15 people. Good walking shoes required, and weather-appropriate clothes.
