High bidder will receive a gift certificate for a family admission, up to five family members of any age, for the Powerhouse Science Center in Sacramento.

Originally founded in 1951 as the California Junior Museum, the Discovery Museum was designed as a space where children could experience science and nature through interactive programs and exhibits. We've operated for 65 years as a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, supplying informal science education for 19 counties in the greater Sacramento area. Today, the Powerhouse Science Center is one of the Sacramento region's premier institutions with an emphasis on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education and hands-on learning, and we are about to get even better!

THE NEW POWERHOUSE

Have you ever wondered what the building is that you see from I-5 as you drive from the airport to downtown? It’s the future home of the Powerhouse Science Center. We will revitalize the historic PG&E Powerhouse building - listed on the National Register of Historic Places - and incorporate Robert T. Matsui Waterfront Park into a dynamic new campus right on the Sacramento River. The new Powerhouse is just a fifteen minute walk up the bike trail from the California State Railroad Museum. The New Powerhouse is the first step in the revitalization of the waterfront, and will bring over 20,000 visitors a month into downtown Sacramento to enjoy - and learn in - our twenty first century science center. The New Powerhouse will have over 25,000 square feet of exhibit space including a full-dome digital planetarium theater, an all new Challenger Learning Center, and all-new interactive exhibits in earth sciences, conservation, physical sciences, astronomy, and space sciences.
