Bruno Greber, born in Switzerland, had his first pony at the age of 6 and has been riding ever since.  After graduating from school, he went through the Swiss Professional Rider’s Association’s (SVBR) trainer/instructor program.  The full program consists of three consecutive levels.  The first is a three-year apprenticeship under the supervision of a certified Master Instructor, including a day a week at professional training school.  Graduation from this apprenticeship requires performance in dressage and showjumping on allocated horses, vaulting, working horses on the lunge line, driving a pair of horses, and a fitness test in which the examinee must meet a certain fitness standard.  The program then requires a two year period as a trainer in order to continue the studies for Level 2.  This next level is a course of preparation and an advanced exam including dressage, showjumping, and eventing (road and tracks, cross country) with your own horse, as well as working green horses on the flat and cross country.  This exam leads to the diploma of Bereiter 1. Klasse.  The next step to reach Level 3 is enrollment in the Swiss Master Instructor course.  This requires a week long exam including riding and teaching in dressage, show jumping, and eventing, as well as starting young horses and working with problem horses.  It also requires teaching lunge, group, and individual lessons, and displaying skill in horse industry related management.  By earning the diploma of Eid. Dipl. Reitleherr, you become a Master Instructor and are entitled to take on apprentices for this career.

During these years, Bruno worked in riding schools where he also coached a vaulting team, and in a show jumping barn.  He competed client’s horses in dressage, showjumping, and eventing.  In order to further his specialization in classical dressage, Bruno moved to Vienna, Austria to study with Arthur Kottas-Heldenberg, former First Chief Rider of the Spanish Riding School.  From 1992 to 1997 he worked as an assistant trainer at Kottas’ private barn at Dressurstall Groissauhof.  Over the years, Bruno has had the opportunity to ride with Georg Wahl, Egon von Neindorff, George Theodorescu, Klaus Krzisch, Philippe Karl, Linda Tellington-Jones, and Lisa Willcox.

Bruno has conducted clinics in Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Trinidad/Tobago, and for the FEI’s (Federation Equestre International) Olmypic Solidarty program in Barbados.  He conducts clinics in the USA on a regular basis.

In 2003, Bruno started his partnership with Ashanti Farm, Inc as trainer/instructor.  He started competing Ashanti Farm’s horses and has earned the USDF bronze, silver, and gold medals.
