Congressional Club Cookbook

Item Number: 131

Description
Founded in 1908, by an Act of Congress, the Congressional Club has been the organization for spouses of the members of the House and Senate, the Presidential Cabinet and Supreme Court.
It is an organization that provides an orientation to Washington, DC life and a bond throughout the years following retirement. Many of its members retain their membership after leaving Washington. Through active membership in the Club public servants and their families find a unique comradery during their experience in the Capitol. The Club also serves as a vehicle for community service.
Since 1927, the Club has been self-sustaining through the sale of the Cookbook and remains the only Club incorporated by the United States Congress. The cookbook is a collection of historical, national and international recipes and vignettes from Washington, DC.
This keepsake was donated by United States Senator Jack Reed.
