Description
In support of its mission to provide public awareness of the importance of the Rhode Island State House, the Rhode Island State House Restoration Society has produced the first comprehensive book that documents the history of the State House. Contributors to the book include Wm. Mackenzie Woodward, architectural historian; Thomas S. Michie, RISD Museum curator; Janet Hayden Jagger, a freelance writer and editor; Warren Jagger, architectural and commercial photographer; and Domenic Carbone, Jr., state architect. The book helps to raise public awareness of the importance of the Rhode Island State House and the work of the Rhode Island State House Restoration Society. The historical background provided, along with the stunning photographs of the building, aid in documenting this important Rhode Island landmark for the future.
Governor Raimondo has also included a handsome set of gold cuff links featuring the State House. The smallest state of the union, Rhode Island, also has the longest official name of any of the states: "State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations", which encircles these cuff links in a pleasant blue border.
The smallest state in America, Rhode Island is known for its sandy shores and seaside Colonial towns. Originally named for the Mediterranean island of Rhodes, the Ocean State was one of the original thirteen colonies, and the birthplace of the industrial revolution.
