Steve Paine, OMD is an acupuncturist licensed in Connecticut and Hawaii, a diplomat of the (US) National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists, a Certified Disability Evaluator and a diplomat of the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics. Steve received his Doctor of Oriental Medicine degree from the Postgraduate Institute of Oriental Medicine located in Hong Kong, in 1989. Steve attended China’s Ministry of Public Health Advanced Acupuncture Training Program at the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China. He graduated from Union College, Schenectady, New York. Steve is a past President of the Hawaii Acupuncture Association and a member of the US-China Medical Association. He is currently President of the National Guild of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, Guild 62, OPEIU, and AFL-CIO. Steve uses a comprehensive approach to treating patients. He respects and complements conventional allopathic medical treatments. Emphasis is placed on physical complaints but with a keen appreciation of the client’s emotional and mental states. Underlying his approach is the assumption that illness and discomfort often have roots that go deeper than the physical and that attitude and lifestyle have a profound effect on physical health. Most people who use acupuncture and Chinese medicine in conjunction with their medical doctor and other health-care professionals report the highest levels of satisfaction in their overall health.

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of very fine, virtually painless needles at specific points on the body to restore proper functioning of the nervous, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, musculoskeletal and endocrine systems.

Acupuncture helps to treat and prevent illness by improving the overall functioning of the body’s immune and organ systems. Acupuncture is helpful for:

Treating existing illnesses and injuries
Preventing both recurrence of illnesses and new illness
Improving overall health
