The Butterfly Joint is a woodworking and design studio for kids of all ages (18 months and up!) The Butterfly Joint focuses on teaching children traditional joinery techniques — the use of dovetails, box joints and loose tenons in place of screws and nails. The goal is for the students to create and walk away with an heirloom.

Toddlers (ages 18 months to 3) and beginners (ages 4-9) work with prefabricated and unassembled wood items to sand, assemble and oil. Advanced students (ages 10-18) create projects from scratch and use hand tools such as Japanese dovetail saws, chisels and hammers.

Along with woodworking skills, The Butterfly Joint also focuses on teaching children manners and personal responsibility along with helping the parents teach productive social and emotional behaviors to their children.
