Location: In the newly remodeled Sullivan Street Bakery!
BREAD UNIVERSITY with Jim Lahey of Sullivan Street Bakery
The class will be all about bread: flat loaves, round loaves, rolls and more! We'll mix, cut, shape, and talk dough in the bakery, and bake our loaves in the bakery ovens. We'll talk fermentation and dough handling, and bake enough bread to take home your own loaves and pizza bianca.
The class will finish with a light lunch in the bakery afterwards.
ACCOLADES:
From Anthony Bourdain: "Jim is to bread what the Dalai Lama is to Buddhism"
Jim Lahey won the first ever
James Beard Award for Outstanding Baker in 2015
Jim's original no-knead bread recipe is one of the most popular recipes the
NY Times has ever published.
From Mark Bittman in the NY Times:
" This innovation—the word recipe does not do the technique justice—came from Jim Lahey, owner of Sullivan Street Bakery in New York City. Jim has created a way for home cooks (and not even ones who are serious bakers) to nearly duplicate an artisan bakery loaf, with a crackling crust, open-holed crumb, light texture, and fantastic flavor. All without kneading, fancy ingredients, or special equipment... I’m not kidding when I say the results will blow your mind."
This is a Live Event Item.
