One of the city's more popular nightlife lounges, The Slipper Room is a variety theatre and house of burlesque, comedy and neo-vaudeville, located in the Lower East Side. Patrons can watch shows from the main floor or mezzanine, but as the New York Times points out "The meek are well-advised to stay on the mezzanine; audience members on the stage level have been known to be licked, tickled and mocked."
