This is a signed copy.

This book is No. 87 of a limited edition of 5,000 copies from The Hawaiian Bicentennial Library. Copyright 1976.

Excerpt from the author's introduction: "This tale is derived largely from the log books and journals of Cook, his officers, and various literary minded midshipmen, seamen and marines. Strange as it may seem to the reader, in the two hundred years since the disaster at Kealakekua Bay, this is the first printed book to devote itself singly to the story of Captain James Cook in Hawai'i."
