Sponsored By The Nature Conservancy
Edited By Richard E. Warner, Ph.D., Expedition Leader
This report includes a signed March 15, 1968, letter from The Nature Conservancy President Thomas W. Richards to Mrs. von Holt.
Excerpt from Mr. Richards' letter: "I was most pleased by the welcome I received last night at the party for the Valley of the Seven Sacred Pools. It was also a great pleasure for me, as it was for all present, to meet the scientists of the Kipahulu Valley Expedition. Their reports of the discoveries in the Valley last August are major contributions to science and conservation, and it was a privilege for me to give them the first printed copies of the scientific report."
Publication Two: "Waipi'o: A Hawaiian Valley"
An Exhibition at the Wailoa Center, Hilo, Hawaii, December 7, 1974 to January 31, 1975
An exhibition and catalog prepared by Frank Salmoiraghi and Yukie Yoshinaga

Excerpt from publication: "Waipi'o, the Land of Curving Water, once sheltered as many as 40,000 people, according to oral tradition. But it is estimated that there were only some 4,000 people left by the time of European discovery, when Captain Cook's ship was offshore from Waipi'o beach in 1779."
