Do you have an interest in medicine?  Do you like working with athletes?  This is an opportunity to spend the day with a Sports Medicine Physician and observe the medical care of athletes from all walks of life: from little league and recreational youth sports athletes, to high school and collegiate athletes, to middle aged runners and weekend warriors, to elite and professional athletes.  You will be sure to observe all types of injury management including simple overuse injuries, acute joint injuries, sprains, strains, tears, fractures and even concussions.  Watch and learn about physical examinations, x-rays, MRIs, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, concussion neuropsychologic testing, casting, injections and even have the opportunity to watch some regenerative medicine procedures such as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Stem Cell Treatments. 

A CH middle or high school student or alum will spend a work day (8am - 5pm) with Dr. Andrew Blecher at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute at the Beverly Hills and/or San Fernando Valley locations.  Dr. Blecher specializes in Primary Care Sports Medicine and has been practicing at the prestigious Southern California Orthopedic Institute (SCOI) for 10 years where he has had the opportunity to care for a wide range of patients. Lunch will be included.
