Each summer Occidental Children's Theater brings you a wacky, fun and critically acclaimed show. This summer we bring you Dracula and the Beanstalk and three folktales from around the world. We also have a popular acting camp for children, the Summer Institute of Fun where the kids get to learn the performance techniques from our summer show. During the academic year, Oxy students go to local elementary schools where they teach theater and performance techniques to 3rd and 5th graders. Also, join us for our Saturday morning Youth Acting Program, fall classes for 2018 will be annouced over the summer.

The critically acclaimed Occidental Children's Theater will celebrate it's 23nd year with an original story, plus three adventurous adaptations of traditional folktales for a seven-week outdoor run in the Remsen Bird Hillside Theater on the Occidental campus. Summer performances will run Thursday through Saturday, begining at 10 a.m., starting July 5th through August 18th.

In about an hour, the cast of six will perform four energetic and funny stories without props, sets or special costumes, relying only on their acting and acrobatic skills. “The cast carries it off with the unflagging charm that has made this reliable company one of the Southland's – and the summer's – most entertaining children's theater offerings,” wrote the Los Angeles Times.

“We work in the round, so the audience is right on top of the action,” Angell said. “The unconventional material and the absence of props or costumes force both the actors and the audience to rely on their imaginations. It’s remarkably different from most anything else you see in children’s theater today.
