FTCNS parent Justus Roe lives and works in Chicago. Roe creates large-scale paintings (both interior and exterior), sculptural installations, and canvas paintings, using a variety of visual mediums. His work references architecture, city grid systems, and landscapes. His abstract stylized forms, mark-making, and color palette develop work that is at once reminiscent of aerial perspectives and metropolitan environments. Roe has created some of the most recognizable large-scale public art throughout Chicago. This includes the Kennedy underpass at Belmont, the facade at the South Shore Metra station, Wabash Arts Corridor at 1001 S. State, the intersection of Olive and Clark in Andersonville, the intersection of Irving and Ashland, and several significant entrance spaces including the University of Chicago Eckhardt Research Center, 1871 entrance wall and hallway in the Merchandise Mart, and lobby wall for Le Meridien Chicago Oakbrook.
