Priyanka was rescued from years of abuse and neglect as a captive begging elephant, occasionally rented out to participate in parades and weddings. She was rescued by Wildlife SOS in November 2017. Years of mistreatment left her with multiple health issues and severely affected her mental health as well. She was deprived a healthy diet, rest and the companionship of other elephants.
