Take the whole family out for this adventure! See what's new at the Oakland Zoo. Check out the Agoutis in the recently opened rainforest aviary habitat. And make sure to take a ride on the aerial gondola and see the new California Trail (opening in June!). The first animal arrivals to the Trail are a mother Black bear and her three cubs rescued last summer. Also residing at the Trail are the three Mountain Lion cubs that were rescued in critical condition last Christmas. After seeing the Zoo's homage to our great state's natural history, what better way to see it in all its present-day glory than by train! Niles Canyon Railway is an historic railway that runs through Niles Canyon, between Sunol and the Niles district of Fremont. With breathtaking views of the East Bay from above trestles and mountaintops, it's sure to ellicit squeals of delight from your train-loving kiddos!
