Description

tour and tasting for 10

Located in the foothills above Saratoga, Cooper-Garrod's vines capitalize on the sunny days, moderate nights, and long growing season of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The winery is picturesque, overlooking rolling hills (just gorgeous when the wildflowers are in bloom). It is dog-friendly and there are also stables here and you can go horseback riding. Family owned and operated since 1893, George Cooper, the founder, was in the US Air Force in WW2 and then was a test pilot for NASA until 1973--this is why many of the wines have names related to aviation. George just passed away in 2016 at the age of 99! Their 2014 Syrah won the Gold Medal in the San Francisco Chronicle International Wine Competition.
