"This is a small and somewhat experimental painting for me. I have this resident-artist fun coming up and I needed to practice my plein air approach with wet media. So, during the 2013 Moab Plein Air, I did my first water color on an artist friend’s property on Pear Tree Lane.

The painting was of a field next to his property that is adjacent to beautiful red rock and home to a happy flock of sheep. So I was painting away and at some point focused my attention mostly on the water color paper, not so much on the field. When I looked up the sheep had silently vanished! I looked all around and could not find them.

With a sigh I went back to finish my painting, completed it and then started packing up to go home. When I got ready to go, I looked up and voila! The sheep were back.

There was never a sound, never a hint for me to know that this flock was coming and going. Ghost Sheep, no doubt."
