Ridge's Lytton Estate Zinfandel is a distinct bottling from the better-known Lytton Springs, which is not actually labeled as "Zinfandel" since the proportion of that variety, in a blend with Mataro and other grapes, may fall below the required percentage for varietal labeling (as it did in 2010 at 67%). The Lytton Estate is made in certain years, when blending lots of Zinfandel picked for the "Springs" bottling--from the same mostly old-vine vineyard, Lytton East--that show a different character more suited to a separate bottling. 75% Zinfandel, with 25% Petite Sirah. The "Estate" slipped under the critic's radar that year, but the larger Lytton Springs bottling received 95 points that vintage from Wine Advocate and 95 points Connoisseurs Guide.
