Produced since 1988. Located on the eastern flank of Sonoma Mountain where redwoods still thrive in a very rare for the area mix of Sonoma volcanics and limestone. Produces one of Kistler's more elegant wines, Chablis-like in its markings of white flowers and lime blossom with a chalk driven subtle, ethereal core of fruit. The 2015 Chardonnay Stone Flat Vineyard is marked by expressive citrus and floral notes, with a bit more lift, translucence and brighter acids than the Durrell, which lies a few feet away and is planted with the same clonal material, but on different rootstock. Even with all of the natural richness of the year, the Stone Flat is quite gracious and delicate. Bright, saline notes extend the finish nicely. The 2014 Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard has very pretty white grapefruit, lemon curd and white peach notes over nuances of honeysuckle, allspice and baker's yeast plus a touch of chalk dust. Full-bodied and packed with finesse, the rich, concentrated citrus and stone fruit flavors are beautifully marked by crisp acidity and it finishes with loads of mineral layers.
