The 2016 Chardonnay from the old vines at Dutton Ranch once again shows the complexity inherent in Old Wente clone Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast. The color is a bright yellow-gold with a flash of green. The nose offers huge aromatics of lemon curd, butterscotch, hazelnuts, and toasty oak. The rich, savory palate is deep and complex, with layered flavors of sweet yellow stone fruits and lemon bar. The finish is decadent, with great length leveled by acidity for balance.
