The Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) was founded in 1973 by astronaut Edgar Mitchell to research consciousness and inner knowing. EarthRise, the Institute's education and retreat center, is named in honor of Mitchell's vision of the Earth from space, and his inspiration to study the interconnectedness of all life.
