Artist's statement:

The painting is one of a series of works that depicts an early morning during the summer of 2017 in Charlestown, Massachusetts. It’s a delightful and peaceful time. A vivid sunlight roused the colours from the sky, clouds, trees, and buildings within the city. It captures a moment that isolates the busy routine of daily life.  

About the Artist: 

Jianci Liang grew up in Guangdong, China. Although educational opportunities were limited for Ms. Liang and her family, her passion for art was boundless. At an early age, Jianci taught herself how to sketch.  â€‹Jianci moved to the United States in 2006 and, five years later, at the age of 23, took her very first art lesson at Bunker Hill Community College.  She never thought it was too late to “get serious about art”. Instead, she says, every single moment of her journey presents new challenges and beginnings.

 For Jianci, drawing defines happiness. When she begins her creative process, Jianci says, her “heart pounds hard, and fills with joy”.  In the future, Jianci hopes to continue to share her love of art.
