Item Description
Beautiful, spacious house sleeps 10, so it would be perfect for 2 or 3 families, or even a family reunion!
The House & Town:
Casa Girasol (The Sunflower House) is a large, contemporary home on a quiet, private cul-de-sac in the upscale hillside neighborhood of Los Balcones. It is a 10-15 minute downhill stroll (and a $2 - $3 cab ride back up) to the Jardin and center of the lovely, historic colonial town of San Miguel de Allende in the State of Guanjuanto. Our home is a spacious 2-story with Saltillo-tiled floors and soaring boveda (curved brick) ceilings and lots of windows. There are peek-a-boo views of town and the surrounding hills from the windows and balconies.
The lower floor has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths (both with tub/shower combos). El Cuarto Rosa (The Pink Room) has 4 twin beds (bunk beds -- great for the kids), a gas fireplace, DVD player and large closet. El Cuarto Azul (The Blue Room) has 2 twin beds, a gas fireplace, and large closet. There are space heaters and a fan (all rarely needed) for each room and a washer and dryer downstairs. There is a tankless water heater that can be adjusted for either a small or large group.
Upstairs, a vintage carousel horse greets you outside of a master bedroom complete with TV, DVD player, wireless Internet connection and a Vonage phone. There is an adjacent bathroom with shower. The large and inviting kitchen is well-equipped and out-fitted with an on-sink water filter, high output gas 4-burner restaurant stove and a Kitchen-Aid stand mixer. There's also a CD player in the kitchen so you can Salsa while blending up fresh Margaritas. Talavera cooking/serving pieces and ceramic ware for 10 are highlights for the casual or gourmet cook.
The large living room and dining area, with a gas fireplace, is filled with vintage folk art, paintings and antiques. The dining table was made from an old carved wood door. The down-filled sofa is wonderful for an afternoon siesta or reading/relaxing and also sleeps 2 people. The armoire contains a TV with cable (and English-speaking TV stations) and a DVD player. There are DVDs and various board games, puzzles, art supplies and books for the whole family. The balcony off the living room has a table and chairs for sipping that Margarita or enjoying the sunsets and San Miguel's wonderfully temperate climate.
San Miguel is a delightful town -- full of history -- with colorful festivals and pageants occuring many times during the year. You can visit the indigenous, outdoor, and crafts markets; Botanical Garden, galleries, shops, spas and restaurants; take any number of art/photo/language/cooking/yoga classes; horseback ride, hike, swim, golf or RELAX.
Outlying towns such as Guanajuanto (famous for its leather goods), Dolores Hildalgo (known for its Talavera ceramics and tiles), and Xote (a hot springs/swimming park) make for wonderful day trips. There are nearby ruins to explore as well. While San Miguel is almost 500 years old, nearby are modern amenities such as two new grocery stores and movie theaters.
Our housekeeper, Marcela, will help you settle in and assist you if you need a cook or driver during your stay. HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!
Special Instructions
